High Winds Cause Motorcyclist Fatality on Bridge

The Suffolk News-Herald reported that high winds caused Garlon Turner, 60, of Suffolk Virginia to fall off his 2007 Harley-Davidson while crossing the James River Bridge Saturday night April 17th.  The State Trooper reported that a motorist saw Turner on his motorcycle and then saw him fly off his bike during a wind gust.  Turner did not fall into the water.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 4.5 mile James River bridge is on a divided highway that when it was originally built was the longest bridge in the world.  It has since been rebuilt to handle additional traffic.
