Summary: Kawasaki is recalling certain model year 2011 Ninja ZX-10R/ZX-10R ABS (ZX1000JBF/KBF/KBFL) motorcycles. It is possible for a portion of the wiring harness to become pinched between the rear subframe and the bolt holding the seat cover. This can damage the harness and wiring and result in a short between wires and the frame or within wires, which could result in the engine stopping suddenly.

Consequence: If the motorcycle stalls while being  ridden, there could be a crash resulting in injury or death.

Remedy: Dealers will repair the motorcycle as necessary, and reroute the main harness; free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners may contact Kawasaki consumer services department at 1-866-802-9381

Summary:
Honda is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2010 ST1300 motorcycles manufactured from Nov. 15, 2007, through may 27, 2010, model year 2008 through 2010 ST1300A motorcycles manufactured from Nov.7, 2007, through April 6, 2010, and model year 2009 ST1300A Police motorcycles, manufactured from Nov. 18, 2008, through Dec. 8, 2009. When the rear suspension of the motorcycle is repeatedly bottomed out (fully compressed) the rear brake reservoir hose mat become damaged and leak fluid.

Consequence:
The rider will experience a loss of rear brake performance or function which increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy:
Dealer will replace the rear brake reservior hose free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or before July 26, 2011. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009

Yamaha is recalling certain model year 201 FJR1300 motorcycles manufacuted from Jan. 2011 through April 2011. The brake light may not illuminate when the front brake lever is applied because the activating mechanism in the front brake switch can bind.

Consequence:
When th motorcycle operator applies only the brake, the brake light may not come on to alert other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy:

Polaris is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Indian Motorcycles for failing to confirm to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 123 “Motorcycle controls and displays.” The side stand may not fold rearward an upward if it contacts the ground when the motorcycle is moving forward.

Consequence:
If the stand does not fold rearward and upward while the motorcycle moves forward, the driver’s ability to control the motorcyle could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy:

Zero Motorcycle is recalling certain model year 2009 Zero Motorcycles built from Sept. 2, 2009 through Dec. 22, 2009; Model Year 2009 Zero DS Motorcycles built from July 27,2010 through Dec. 28, 2009; Model Year 2010 Zero Motorcycles built from Feb. 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011; and model year 2010 Zero DS Motorcycles built from Jan. 20, 2010 through March 31, 2011. The front brake caliper bracket may experience permanent deformation when subjected to high braking loads; the condition could induce misalignment of the front brake pads with respect to the front brake rotor.

Remedy:
Dealers will replace the front brake caliper bracket with a re-designed component, and replace the front brake pads in case the existing pads experienced abnormal wear. The front brake fluid will also be inspected and, if signs of overheating are noted, it will be replaced and the system will be flushed. This service will be performed free of charge. The screws may work loose and the screww heads can contact the side of the front tire, leading to tire deflation, increasing the risk of a crash.
