S&S Hires Former CFO Stephen Iggens as President

(Viola, WI) S&S Cycle Inc. of Viola, Wisconsin is pleased to announce the hiring of Stephen K. Iggens as company President. The duties of President have been handled by Executive Chairman and CEO George B. Smith since late 2008. Iggens first official day on the job will be August 8, 2011 and he is planning on attending the rally in Sturgis, SD for a few days to meet customers and other industry leaders.

George Smith will continue as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors at S&S Cycle and lend his industry expertise and experience to Steve to effect a smooth and seamless transition.

Iggens is no stranger to S&S Cycle and the motorcycle industry having served as Executive Controller, Director of Finance/CFO and CFO/Vice President of Finance at S&S between 2003 and 2006. The management team is very pleased to welcome Steve back to S&S in his new role as company President.

Iggens, a licensed CPA in the state of Wisconsin and MBA graduate from Marquette University, has obtained broad business experience with company COO leadership positions in diverse industries of printing, die casting, machining and non-ferrous metals casting. Those experiences shared many similar challenges to S&S Cycle in the recent economic downturn and give him an excellent perspective to capitalize on current S&S Cycle opportunities.
According to Chairman and CEO George B. Smith, “Steve Iggens is a very competent and capable guy and knows S&S Cycle and our industry. I don’t think we could have found a better match to lead the S&S Team to take advantage of the opportunities facing us and the positive initiatives currently in the works. With his past experience here at S&S and additional business and manufacturing experience he gained the last five years, I’m confident that he will be able to continue the growth exhibited the past year and help develop effective future strategies.”

Iggens enjoys traveling and spending time with this wife Kate and his young son Mick. He is also a bit of a motor head and in his spare time rides his S&S powered Harley-Davidson® Road King® and works on his classic cars. According to Steve, moving back to the beauty of southwest Wisconsin and leading S&S is a dream come true.

“My family is very excited to be moving to beautiful southwest Wisconsin, and I am personally very honored to have the opportunity to come back to a first rate company like S&S Cycle as President!”

S&S Cycle has been a leading manufacturer of performance engines and replacement parts for v-twin motorcycles for over 50 years. The company’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities are based in Viola, Wisconsin. More information can be found at www.sscycle.com

S&S Cycle To Stand Behind Big Dog Motorcycle Warranties

Big Dog owners are wondering where to turn for warranty support on their bikes. Though the official BDM warranty ended with the company, S&S is stepping up to the plate and offering a special engine warranty to all owners of Big Dog motorcycles that were still covered by the factory warranty. S&S company president George Smith commented “I’m certainly sad to see a good customer like BDM close their doors, but I feel that we need to shoulder the responsibility, and make sure the end customer gets a square deal. I suppose we could just look the other way, but I won’t do that. After all, these are S&S engines. We built them and we’re going to stand behind them!”

Harley-Davidson Kit Assembly Operations in India

Company to Assemble Select Models at Facility in India  from U.S.-Supplied Assembly Kits

Kits from the USA will be assembled into complete bikes in India

Milwaukee, Nov. 2, 2010 – Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) is moving forward with the launch of operations in India to assemble motorcycles for the Indian market from component kits supplied by its U.S. plants, the Company announced today. The Company expects the CKD (complete knock-down) assembly facility to be operational in the first half of 2011.

The announcement comes as President Barack Obama prepares to travel to India on a state visit focused on trade and business opportunities between the two countries.

“CKD assembly operations in India are a natural next step for Harley-Davidson as we build our brand presence around the world,” said Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer Matthew S. Levatich. “This investment will allow us to improve our market responsiveness and production flexibility while reducing the tariff burden, which we expect will drive growth over time by making our bikes more accessible to India’s consumers. Given the strong response we have received in the initial months of retail operations, we believe this is the right investment for this important market,” Levatich said.

To date, Harley-Davidson India has been importing completely assembled motorcycles from the Company’s U.S. final assembly plants. Once the Indian CKD assembly facility in the Indian State of Haryana is operational, Harley-Davidson India will import CKD kits for select current models, consisting of components produced by Harley-Davidson’s U.S. plants in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Missouri and by the company’s suppliers. Indian employees at the Haryana  facility will then assemble the components into finished motorcycles. Other models will continue to be imported as completely built motorcycles for now.

India will be the second country in which Harley-Davidson has CKD assembly operations outside the U.S., after Brazil where the Company began assembly operations in 1999.

“We are committed to global growth and growth in India for the long term,” said Levatich. “India’s rapidly growing economy, rising middle class and significant investment in construction of new roads and highways are paving the way for leisure motorcycle riding.”

“We are building a strong foundation for our business in India, first by establishing a world-class dealer network, and now by commencing CKD assembly operations” said Anoop Prakash, Managing Director for Harley-Davidson India. “It is important for us to continue to invest in strategies that make our products and experiences accessible to an increasingly broader set of customers across India.”

Harley-Davidson India commenced operations in August 2009 and opened its first dealership in July 2010. The Company currently offers 12 models in its 2010 line-up in India, available through authorized dealerships in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad.
