Fairless and Allstate Display Custom Built Victory

fairlessAll day today March 7, Allstate Insurance Company and legendary motorcycle builder Rick Fairless will display at Daytona Bike Week his latest custom creation – a reimagined Victory Vegas 8-Ball.

The custom-built motorcycle is part of this year’s grand prize for the Allstate Motorcycle Sweepstakes and will feature signature Rick Fairless designs and customization never before seen by the public. This is the fifth year of the Allstate Motorcycle Sweepstakes and the first year that a Fairless custom is featured as the grand prize.

“When Allstate asked me to build this year’s bike, they asked for one that really fit the image of its riders. I knew I had to push the limits a little with this bike because they insure so many different kinds of folks,” Fairless said. “We ended up with a bike that is really going to turn some heads. This ain’t a bolt-on custom.”

In addition to winning the motorcycle, Allstate will give the winner a trip for two to Rick Fairless’ Strokers Dallas for a free custom paint job consultation, personalized by Fairless himself.

“We’re confident that the winner of this year’s Allstate Motorcycle Sweepstakes is not only going to love their new ride,” said Pam Hollander, senior director of marketing for Allstate Insurance Company, “but they’re also going to love the whole Allstate experience.”

KYMCO USA Sponsors First Annual Scooter Only Land Speed Trials

November 21, 2010, Historic Route 66, Devore, California

Spartanburg, S.C. (November 10, 2010) – KYMCO USA is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the First Annual Scooter Land Speed Trials.  This unique event will take place on Historic Route 66, Devore, CA on November 21, 2010.

The Motor-Scooter International Land Speed Federation (MSILSF) is the newly created and self-appointed sanctioning organization of motor-scooter land-speed records.  The need for this organization came about due to motor-scooter riders’ desire to participate in the AMA/BUB land speed trials at Bonneville. When their proposed changes to allow scooters and create a separate scooter class were rejected, the Motor-Scooter International Land-Speed Federation (MSILSF) was formed.  While there may be some changes in the AMA/BUB rules for 2011, the MSILSF decided to host a scooter only event this year.

KYMCO USA, with its reputation for quality scooters, was an obvious choice for a sponsor.  This alliance goes nicely with their involvement in the recent Scooter Cannonball Run.  The MSILSF will have several different classes and KYMCO has scooters that could participate in nearly all of them.

In fact, four riders have already registered to ride in four different classes on KYMCO scooters.  Daniel Smith of San Diego, CA will be riding a KYMCO Super 9 50cc in the 50cc class.  Also from San Diego, Alan Spears will cover the 70cc class on a KYMCO S9 Malossi 70cc. Michael Tockey, a KYMCO Dealer in Indianapolis, IN will be riding a KYMCO Super 8 in the 150cc class.  And in the 250cc class, Richard Newman from Oceanside, CA is entering on a KYMCO Grandvista 250cc.

We are excited to be part of this historic race and to be a sponsor for the first ever Motor Scooter World Land Speed Record being set.  KYMCO USA is moving to the forefront of the scooter world, so it only makes sense for us to be involved,” explained Rick Pawelka, Director of Marketing at KYMCO USA.

The race will be run one scooter at a time over a measured half mile course marked by cones and trophies will be awarded to persons attaining the highest top speed in each class. The records will stand until broken at the next annual event.

For more information and to register for this event, go to the Motor-Scooter International Land Speed Federation’s website at http://www.motorscooterlandspeedfederation.org/.

Motorcycle Manufacturers Celebrate Veterans Day

When you think of the military you think of motorcycles.

The first American to enter Germany after the armistice of WWI was Corporal Roy Holtz of Chippewa Falls, WI, riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Returning veterans from WWII looking for an adrenaline rush similar to what they experienced in the war turned to two wheels and formed the first motorcycle “clubs.”

But, even before the first World War, motorcycles were serving our nation.  In a press release Harley-Davidson says,  “Ever since the first American troops rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles during the Mexican Expedition in 1916, the Motor Company has enjoyed a long-standing bond with the men and women who have served our nation.”

It’s a bond that American motorcycle manufacturers recognize and continue to embrace.

This month Harley-Davidson and Victory Motorcycles both have programs designed to show appreciation to those who defend the freedoms of our Constitution.

Harley-Davidson  is providing an opportunity for Americans to create personal messages of gratitude for active and retired personnel at www.harley-davidson.com/thankyou.  These messages will be sent on an electronic postcard featuring supermodel and motorcycle rider Marisa Miller and military themed Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  Americans are also encouraged to visit their area Harley-Davidson dealership to learn more about opportunities to honor local military heroes.

“At Harley-Davidson, we’re all about freedom, but we can’t forget that freedom comes at a price,” said Dino Bernacchi, Harley-Davidson’s director of Marketing and Communications.  “It’s humbling to think of the countless sacrifices these brave men and women – and their families – have made to keep our country free, so the Motor Company is honored to help salute military personnel this November.”

HD is also giving away one lucky active or retired service man a “Freedom Pass.”  The winner receives a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle of their choice, and a trip to Milwaukee, Wis., along with five of their fellow service members, where they will receive VIP treatment at the H-D Museum and other select gifts.

Victory Motorcycles is also offering a limited edition military wedge badge set on every motorcycle sold today, November 11th.   It features the Military Salute Pin design, and is a small token of appreciation to thank the men and women of the military who sacrifice for our freedom.

In addition to the wedge set, during the month of November, Victory is giving a $1,000 discount for all active military members.
