Full Throttle Final Episode Reaches 1.9 Million Viewers

Michael Ballard heads the demented circus at The Full Throttle Saloon

Michael Ballard heads the demented, but profitable circus at The Full Throttle Saloon

The Full Throttle Saloon capped its fourth season with the marriage between co-stars Michael and Angie Ballard, and left fans wondering about the fate of Jackyl front man Jesse James Dupree.

(Spoiler alert)  It doesn’t take a Scotland Yard detective to figure out Jesse is alive as fans of the show have pointed out on Facebook, since there’s no entry on his Wikipedia page listing his death and the band has tour dates and are still selling tickets.

Have you heard the one about the jackass that walks into this bar…? Michael and Angie Ballard interview 2010

But all that drama translated into the one of the largest audiences for the biker bar reality show.

Almost 2 million viewers watch the final episode which was a 29% boost from the previous week.  According to TruTV,  Full Throttle Saloon has averaged 1.9 million viewers, 1.2 million adults 18-49 and 675,000 men 18-49.

For those of you who don’t know the show,  Full Throttle Saloon is a behind-the-scenes look at Michael Ballard’s enormous, 30-acre indoor/outdoor watering hole (Full Throttle Saloon) during South Dakota’s annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.   Each year, “The Throttle” has nine days to generate enough cash to cover its 300 employees, 100 of which are voluptuous go-go dancing bartenders. The expansive venue features large and small performance stages, a burn-out pit, a tattoo parlor, a wrestling ring, restaurants, dozens of stores, hundreds of cabins for rent and parking for the thousands of bikers who come to town for the annual motorcycle fest. “This is the ultimate destination for people who love badass motorcycles, kick-ass rock and roll, beautiful women and a cold belly washer,” says Ballard’s business partner, Jesse James Dupree.

Full Throttle Saloon is executive-produced by Arthur Smith, Kent Weed and Frank Sinton of A. Smith & Co. Productions; Jesse James Dupree of Mighty Loud Entertainment; and Arnold Rifkin of Cheyenne Enterprises. The project emerged from a newly formed partnership between Dupree and Rifkin.

New Husqvarna Motorcycles Website Goes Live

May 6, 2011 – Corona, CA – Husqvarna has committed some serious resources to the North American marketplace. Starting with a $12 million contingency plan Husky has more than doubled its investment in parts and accessories to serve Husqvarna dealers and customers alike. This level of investment continues with the latest dealership collateral materials and effective immediately, the launch of a specific website for the United States. “New model info, brochures, sales promotions, contingency awards, and complete US specific product information are now available at www.husqvarna-motorcyclesna.com,” explains Corey Eastman, Husqvarna NA’s National Marketing Manager.

“We will also be using the website as a true communications tool,” adds Corey. “Everything from a dealer locator to the latest news from Husqvarna and the magazine tests of our motorcycles is available at the site, as well as some fun stuff including Team Husqvarna race bios, photo galleries and links to our social media outreach at Facebook and Twitter.” This launch is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the behind the scenes efforts Husqvarna’s new management team has been making.

“I guess if you don’t blow your own horn, no one else will, but honestly, the new team has had a pretty productive six months,” Corey claims. “In addition to moving operations from New Jersey to Southern California, and bringing an entirely new management team on board as well as rolling out the 2011 models and going racing with Fred Andrews/FAR, Zip-Ty and Hall’s Cycles we have been busy behind the scenes to help the Husky dealer network. We created the new ‘Ride More’ message and came up with the creative 2.99% APR financing offer and 60-month terms to make it work. Dealer collateral materials from full model line posters, hang tags, handlebar placards, stickers, window clings, floormats and more have also been introduced.”

Eastman is quick to add that even more is in the works and the 2012 models are ahead of schedule. “The first place dealers and customers alike can learn about all the latest Husky happenings will be at the website. This site is designed to be far more than a virtual brochure,” he says. “It is a very dynamic product, always changing, adding new content and connecting with the customer to give everyone a reason to Ride More!”

Big Dog Motorcycles Ceases Operations

Has Big Dog declared bankruptcy and closed for good?

It has now been confirmed that Big Dog Motorcycles has closed for good.    Cyril Huze first broke the story that Big Dog was closing and later The Wichita Eagle reported that the company has laid another 10 employees off but stopped short of confirming that the remaining 22 have been given pink slips.  The company started in 1994.

The company’s official Facebook Fan Page has not responded to inquiries about the closing and company owner Sheldon Coleman has not responded to calls or emails.

Blogger Cyril Huze is saying he was told last week by a source that the company’s closing would happen this week.

Huze speculates that Coleman may negotiate with the bank to regain possession of the company’s stock of parts that he has used as collateral for loans to start a smaller business supplying parts to the past customers of the brand.

*Update April 5, 2011 10:30am – Headline changed

DealerNews is reporting that Rick Fairless, owner of Strokers Dallas has spoken with Sheldon Coleman about Big Dog’s demise. “Sheldon called me and said the bank was taking over operations, and that the bank was shutting down the production line,” he told Dealernews. “So Big Dog Motorcycles as we know it has ceased to exist. It’s a sad, sad day.”

Ok..so there’s no motorcycle in this picture.  But,  we’ve all been to those “campground” style field rallies where the action is mostly “off” the bike.  So, as we gear up for spring, we thought it appropriate we pick this picture for our Caption of the Month contest.   Place your guess here, or on our Facebook Fan Page.

uh...is that what I think it is...
