SANTA CRUZ, Calif., (Oct. 2, 2012) – Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, today announced its 2013 model line which features an average power increase of 99 percent and the world’s longest-range production electric motorcycle: the Zero S, capable of 137 miles in the city. To attain such leaps in performance, Zero designed a revolutionary new Z-Force™ motor that is incredibly powerful while also highly efficient, passively air-cooled and compact. Integrated into every 2013 motorcycle, the motor operates using a new higher voltage Z-Force power pack. Providing riders the option to charge faster than ever, each Zero can now be charged to 95 percent in an hour or less using CHAdeMO charge stations by way of an optional accessory. Perhaps most exciting, Zero plans to begin initial deliveries of its complete 2013 model line to North America in January 2013.

Nearly every element of each motorcycle has been refined to embody the sophisticated technology and elemental simplicity of riding a Zero. From highly innovative mobile phone integration to eye-catching styling, the 2013 lineup is impressive at every level. Using Bluetooth, riders can now sync their iPhone or Android mobile phones to see detailed motorcycle information and even adjust the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. Riders will appreciate the sleek new bodywork on the Zero S and Zero DS, which includes neatly integrated storage in the ”tank” area and flows elegantly into a comfortable two-tier seat. To accommodate the new look and advanced powertrain, Zero redesigned the frames for every model with an emphasis on improving rider ergonomics and expanding compatibility with aftermarket accessories.

Among the many highlights of the 2013 lineup, Zero Motorcycles introduced the Zero FX as the ultimate “do anything” and “ride anywhere” urban rebel motorcycle. It is the fastest accelerating motorcycle in the company’s lineup with 70 ft-lbs of torque, 44 hp and a low weight of only 275 lbs. The Zero FX, as well as the Zero XU and Zero MX, now features the world’s first truly modular quick-swap power pack technology. Riders can now use one or two battery modules and can upgrade any of the previously mentioned models from 2.8 kWh to 5.7 kWh in seconds. With increased range, vastly improved handling and impressive power, the now full-sized Zero MX is capable of comfortably launching off significantly larger jumps at the motocross track.

Continuing a design philosophy of “sophisticated simplicity” for 2013, Zero Motorcycles focused on maximizing the exhilaration of riding and minimizing needless complexity. The new Z-Force motor and overall powertrain is completely air-cooled on account of its highly efficient and innovative design. With instant torque, a nearly silent belt-driven system and no shifting, riders need only focus on enjoying the ride. For the owner, there is no routine powertrain maintenance and the “fuel” cost is only a penny a mile. Pricing information: Each Zero Motorcycles model is 100 percent electric and, as a result, may qualify to receive government rebates or credits. Zero sells its motorcycles through authorized dealerships. Each
street-legal motorcycle comes with a two year limited warranty, while the Zero MX comes with a one year limited warranty. Initial deliveries will commence in January 2013 for North America and in February 2013 for Europe. Mark Blackwell Joins The Board Of Zero Motorcycles

Mark was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2000. Mark started racing while in his teens and was one of the very first American Motocross superstars. After his racing career, Mark has held positions of increasing responsibilities in the motorcycle industry, initially at Suzuki, then at Husqvarna, at Suzuki again and finally at Victory Motorcycles where he was Vice President & General Manager through a critical growth period for the brand. Zero Bikes Dominate Electric Class In 2011 AMA MiniMoto SX COMPETITION

LAS VEGAS (May 9, 2011) – Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in electric motorcycle technology, is celebrating victory this past weekend at the 2011 Geico AMA MiniMoto SX in Las Vegas. On Friday, May 6, Zero set some of the fastest qualifying times among both gas and electric motorcycles. Quick from the start, they dominated the electric motorcycle heat race on production Zero MX dirt bikes. During the race, Zero’s Blake Mitchell took first, followed by Jamie Lanza, Chris Green and Trevor Doniak.Consistently outpacing, out accelerating and out handling the other electric motorcycle competition, Zero showed the strength of their dirt bike line which has evolved to become faster and more robust over several generations. The winner, Blake Mitchell, owns and trains on a Zero X which he purchased in 2008 so that he could gain a competitive edge by riding close to home without disturbing those living nearby.

“Our lap times, success in qualifying heats and speed during the race showcased the performance available today from Zero Motorcycles line of production electric dirt bikes. By leveraging the highly efficient and powerful advantages of our direct drive powertrain we were able to consistently beat the other electric competition by a wide margin,” said Scot Harden, Vice President of Global Marketing for Zero Motorcycles. “We are incredibly proud of our team’s performance. Adding an interesting twist, during racing and qualifying the electric motorcycles were mixed in with their internal combustion counterparts. In an attempt to level the playing field and capture fans’ attention, race organizers handicapped the electric motorcycles by delaying their start behind the gas motorcycles by several seconds.While entertaining, the top electric motorcycle riders were so much faster than the majority of the combustion field that it caused hazards during passing that resulted in at least one incident. As riders increasingly turn to high performance electric motorcycles it will be the challenge of organizers to decide how best to integrate a new powertrain into a new racing tradition.

Zero has made it a goal to work with promoters in an effort to increase the amount of riders competing on electric motorcycles and envisions a future of both electric only and gas-electric races. “We are deeply indebted to the promoters of the MiniSX for their vision and support for electric motorcycles as the next generation in motocross racing. Popular Electric Motorcycle Brand Gears Up to Battle Gas Rivals in Las Vegas

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., (April 20, 2011) – Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in electric motorcycle technology announced its plans to return to competition at the 2011 AMA MiniMoto SX on May 6 in Las Vegas at the South Point Hotel and Casino which now serves as the battleground for the world’s biggest mini bike event. Developed as a collaboration to showcase the latest in electric motorcycle technology, Zero Motorcycles will be taking on some of the most sophisticated and high powered 150cc racing dirt bikes available today in a heads-up battle that is certain to keep motocross fans on the edge of their seats.

Zero Motorcycles test rider and engineering technician, Trevor Doniak, will be joined by Chris Green, an avid motocross competitor, who also serves as the Associate Editor for Dirt Rider magazine and WORCS/Endurocross upstart, Jamie Lanza. All riders are expected to compete on modified 2011 Zero MX motorcycles. This year’s battle will take place on a larger track than previous events due to the South Point Hotel and Casino’s expansive arena, which allows for higher speeds and intense bar-to-bar action.
