This announcement marks the end of the Kings Mountain era of the Indian Chief, and signifies an important milestone in the 111-year storied history of the Indian Motorcycle brand. With a paint scheme emulating the iconic Indian Chief on display at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York, the stunning new collectible 2013 Indian Chief Vintage Final Edition is a fully accessorized motorcycle that befits its place in the history of motorcycling. The extremely limited number of these bikes available is sure to excite collectors and pave the way for the new era in Indian Motorcycle under the leadership of Polaris Industries.

The 2013 Indian Chief Final Edition comes fully loaded with the World’s Fair-inspired paint scheme of Indian Red, Thunder Black, and Gold Pinstripe; auxiliary driving lamps; black leather solo seat with included detachable passenger seat; windshield; black leather saddlebags; chrome grab rail; leather fringe; engine guards; and chrome fender tips. The Kings Mountain, North Carolina assembly line was transitioned to Polaris’ Spirit Lake, Iowa production facility in 2011. SANTA CRUZ, Calif., (Oct. 2, 2012) – Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, today announced its 2013 model line which features an average power increase of 99 percent and the world’s longest-range production electric motorcycle: the Zero S, capable of 137 miles in the city. To attain such leaps in performance, Zero designed a revolutionary new Z-Force™ motor that is incredibly powerful while also highly efficient, passively air-cooled and compact. Integrated into every 2013 motorcycle, the motor operates using a new higher voltage Z-Force power pack. Providing riders the option to charge faster than ever, each Zero can now be charged to 95 percent in an hour or less using CHAdeMO charge stations by way of an optional accessory. The CHAdeMO fast charging standard is the most widely adopted DC Fast Charging standard and has over 1600 installed stations worldwide, with an additional 1000 in Europe expected before the end of 2013.  According to Nissan estimates, 2000 fast chargers will be installed in the United States by the end of 2014, with at least 400 in California alone, supported by government electric vehicle infrastructure spending. Lehman Trikes, Klock Werks, and Prugh Design Announce “S.D.C.”

Lehman Trikes, Klock Werks Kustom Cycles, and Prugh Design, all based in South Dakota, announced today they have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on the design, manufacture, and badging of a custom trike tentatively scheduled to roll out at the American V-Twin Dealer Show in Indianapolis, February 2012. S&S Hires Former CFO Stephen Iggens as President

Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Presents The Limpnickie Lot at the West Gate

Mark Blackwell Joins The Board Of Zero Motorcycles

Fewer Stalls at 2011 V-Twin Expo But Outlook is Improving

Vendors believe 2011 will be a better year than previous two

(Feb 5, 2011) Snow flurries greeted the opening of the 11th annual  Easyrider V-Twin Expo  today in the

reflecting the economy, the V-Twin expo is smaller but dealers are more optimistic than in years past.

Duke Energy Center in Downtown Cincinnati.   Held annually during the first or second weekend, the V-Twin Expo is open only to motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, or members of the press.

The number of the exhibitors at this year’s Expo is down from previous years, but officials have not released an exact figure.  In 2010 the show producer Jim Betlach addressed the downturn with a positive spin. “The industry is right-sizing. With as many years as I have served this business, seeing this cycle before, I know those that come out on the right side of the process will be rewarded”

Exhibitors expressed cautious optimism about the health of the motorcycle industry.  Lee Wimmer, president of Wimmer Machine said he’s seeing improvements in his niche. “It’s not where we want it to be but it’s getting better. There are a lot of people walking the isles today and we’re hearing a lot of positive comments from the dealers out there as well.”

Other manufacturers say they’ve heard from their dealers that the motorcycle business is improving but that we’re still not “out of the woods yet” according to a source at S & S Cycles.

In a couple of weeks the mostly metric dealer show will open in Indianapolis and early reports are that exhibitor numbers have also declined for that expo.

That’s not a bad thing, according to most of the dealers we spoke to today.  One East Coast Harley-Davidson dealer who asked not to be named said, “We had too many dealers even when business was booming.  We were surrounded by dealers within 20 or 30 minutes and everybody suffered low profits.  Today there are fewer customers but fewer dealers which I believe will benefit the dealers who can survive.

Snow and ice seemed to be the biggest complaint of attendees.  Martha Larimer of North Carolina said, “Snow and Ice and 20 degree temps don’t give us the warm and fuzzys or put us in any mood to buy!  (this is the) second year in a row that we have to jeopardize life and limb to learn about new products.”
